How effective is private tutoring
in piano tuning?
Dear Rick,
I just wanted to say, Thanks. I feel like I’m learning so much. The idea of tuning by ear seemed so very daunting just weeks ago. I know we’ve really only just begun, but I can already say that I feel like I “get it” now.
I’d never given it much thought before, beyond imagining it as something utterly overwhelming and grimly complicated. But I now see just how straight forward it is… I'm not saying I understand all the theory that goes into it (but I hope to soon), but I do see just how one thing leads to another and how we can establish this by successive development.
It’s like learning to play chess: I understand the basic rules and how all the pieces move which gives me a true appreciation of the game… now I need to learn to play like a master, to start thinking many moves ahead, to understand the offenses and defenses and the intricacies of the game. (If you know what I mean).
